| What is a Chemical Peel? |
Men and women alike share in the desire to have healthy, youthful skin. Sun Exposure, oxidative and environmental stress to the skin, significantly contributes to the aging process.
A Chemical Peel is a tipically applied blend of acids that aid in the restoration and rejuvenation of the skin’s surface. They create a uniform and controlled shedding of several layers of the skin. Depending on the nature and depth of the peel, a significant number of layers can be exposed, allowing new growth to reveal healthy skin.
Chemical peels are not limited to just the face; they can be performed on neck, chest, hands, arm, shoulders and legs.

| What types of Chemical Peels are there? |
Chemical peels are classified as the following three types of peels.
1. Superficial Peel- Designed for a more sensitive skin, as well as ethnic skin. This peel improves texture, sun damage, Rosacea, softens lines, reduces breakouts, and controls oil providing a more even, smoother skin texture. A series of treatments is recommended to obtain desired results. Typically there is no down time with this type of peel.
2. Medium Peel - Target the epidermis and upper dermis with a stronger potency of acids, this peel is appropriate for many skin types, conditions, and sensitivities. It will help treat smoker’s skin, pigment disorders, sun damage, photo damage, fine lines and wrinkling, as well as acne .Moderate to oppressive exfoliation will be experienced, depending on the number of layers applied. Results? Smoother, clear, plump, hydrated and ultra soft skin.
3. Deep Peel- Targets the dermis. Deep peels produce the most dramatic results, suited for more resilient skin that have more dramatic wrinkling, sun damage, acne scarring, aging skin, photodamage as well as pigment disorders. After a deep peel the skin is red and can result in some swelling and blistering, the skin will peel for 1-2 weeks, ointment can be used to keep skin moist. The new skin will have the color and sensation of sunburn, which will gradually lighten to your normal skin color.
The results? Dramatically improved texture, smoothness and clarity.

It is also an excellent choice for maintaining even pigmentation and correcting pigment discolorations for those with hydroquinone sensitivities.
with Hydroquinone (non-resorcinol) exfoliating treatment
This formula is for those who want even skin tone and have no sensitivity to hydroquinone. It will also help to correct melasma, sun damage and pigment discolorations of any kind. In addition, this peel will inhibit active acne and correct post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (brown-spotting) from acne.
Hydroquinone & Resorcinol exfoliating treatment
This peel is the most potent formula of the PCA Peel® treatments. It will provide more exfoliation for oilier, thicker and resilient skin types. It is effective on extremely sun damaged and thickened skin. It is also excellent for those with active/cystic acne and asphyxiated skin (dry on the surface, oily underneath). |
